Uh-Oh
Monday night Kaylie said two girls in her after school class told her the Easter Bunny wasn't real and that it was really just your parents. Bryan immediately said, WHATEVER that is not true. Kaylie, not satisfied with Daddy's answer looked to me. Of course I told her the Easter Bunny was true but she just knew...it was really a sad night b/c she started crying and no matter what I said she just knew by looking at me. So I tried to explain that sometimes the Easter Bunny just needs "help" from Mommy's and Daddy's. All this did was open a can of worms b/c we went from the Easter Bunny to the Tooth Fairy to Santa. :( I think I managed to get her to swallow Santa for a while longer but I think the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny are out. So sad...my baby is growing up - way too fast! The kicker is that yesterday she went to school and told her friends that the Easter Bunny & Tooth Fairy aren't true. I was so mad last night about this b/c now my kid is ruining it for everyone else just like the two girls on Monday for her. I told her last night if the girls bring it up again today to please not say anything. I tried to reason with her about how sad and upset she was when we talked about it Monday night and why would she want to make her friends sad like that too. I think she understands. I'm sorry to any of you Mom's that read this blog and may have had to explain all of this to your kiddo all on account of my kiddo. :( I feel terrible about it and wish I could press rewind, but I don't think I could have done anything different to change the outcome. I guess as parents we all know this day will one day come but geez in 2nd grade? Well...that might be about right...I think I was in 3rd when I found out so I guess it was just a matter of time.
